5 Favorite Cozy Places in Philly

Some of the coziest places in Philly will instantly transport you to an English pub or French Brasserie. With the winter upon us and lack of daylight, these are my favorite places to venture out in the cold if you’re based in Philly or will be visiting soon:

The Dandelion

On the corner of 18th and Sansom, the British-inspired pub has two floors with various well-appointed rooms and nooks. A visit is like taking a quick day trip to London. The setting is complete with plaid, doggie décor and a cozy fireplace! It’s a must any time I’m in Rittenhouse.

Royal Boucherie

Royal Boucherie in the heart of Old City is like a warm hug on a cold day. The French Brasserie is another two-story restaurant that serves as a perfect place to pull up at the wooden bar, the raw bar, or upstairs for a celebration. I celebrated my birthday there last year and loved it.

The Good King Tavern & Le Caveau Wine Bar

Another jaunt to France by way of a visit to The Good King Tavern and the inviting wine bar up the flight of stairs through a door that’s easy to miss on the side. From the curated wine list to the duck liver mousse, you cannot go wrong with dinner at GKT and nightcap upstairs. I consider it one of the best nights in Philly. Visit on a Thursday for ‘wine school’, where they pour different wines each week.

Southwark

A neighborhood favorite. Southwark is a corner venue on 4th Street you must put on your list. The beverages are as delicious as the seasonal menu items. If it’s on the menu, the duck is what you order (sensing a duck theme?). If you go on Monday, the bar hosts friendly industry nights, pouring fine wines from their cellar. The bar has good vibes and the staff is knowledgeable. You’ll enjoy coming for happy hour and staying all night.

Wm. Mulherin’s Sons

In the trendy Fishtown neighborhood, one of my favorite spots is Wm. Mulherin’s Sons. This Italian-inspired bar and restaurant is outfitted with a fireplace and offers a great dining experience in a refurbished 100-year-old whiskey facility. The drinks and dishes are an absolute delight by day and night. If you’re up for a staycation, you can stay in the boutique hotel upstairs.

Stay warm and cozy out there!
