Celebrations in Mykonos

I’m fresh off a whirlwind trip from Lebanon and Mykonos. Back in January, the plan all started when a friend of mine set her wedding date for September and surprised us that she was actually tying the knot in Greece. We immediately were on board. As I committed to the wedding, I realized a very important date in there. It was my best friend’s birthday, and it was a big on 4-0. I could ‘t miss it! So her and husband came too.

As we were planning the week festivities alongside the wedding, we had plenty of tips and recommendations to squeeze into the week. Everything on the island is basically a 10 minute drive so it was easy to get around and pop in to Mykonos town to wind around the narrow walkways.

Ornos

We stayed in Ornos, which was a cute cove on the island with a wonderful beach and town with some restaurants, shops and markets. With the inlet, we had calm waters to wade in from our sunbeds as we stayed at Mykonos Blanc.

Mykonos Town

It’s the place you most likely picture when you think of Mykonos. The windy white washed walkways, bougainvillea hanging down from colorful stairs and shutters. The town is full of shops, and restaurants tucked away in narrow corridors. Make sure to catch sunset in Little Venice, overlooking the windmills. We sat at 'Sunset’ - very fitting.

We dined at a few great places and bookmarked some for the next visit! On the first night out on the ‘town’ we went to M-eating, which was lovely. The following night we went to Interni, which was a stunning spot and the entrance is a major wow moment. Highly recommend.

On the following day, we took a windy boat day to the nearby island of Delos, steeped in ancient history and Greek Mythology. When I say windy, hold onto your hats, because the sail boat was a rocking. Once we got passed the chop, we got off to take a lovely tour around the island, met all the cute feline inhabitants. Then we took another windy path into the cove of Rhenia to drop anchor to jump in, swim and lunch with some cool glasses of rosé in hand. It was such a lovely day - and a great value that we found on Discover Greece. Thankful we managed to island hop in a busy week.

Sunset Dinners

After the sailing, we took a snooze on our sun beds at the hotel. My friend and her husband heard the restaurant on the cove was really delicious, so we made it just in time for a gorgeous sunset sitting over the water at Apaggio with these lovely sparkling lights overhead.

Finally the wedding day arrived, and we got all decked out for the occasion. It was hosted at their beautiful villa overlooking the sea for an intimate 20 person gathering. The bride was in a silky floor length dress and groom fit the Mykonos vibe in light blue. The short but sweet ceremony led into an amazing dinner, followed by late night dancing in Mykonos Town. We finally stayed out late!

The next day we all rallied for another big celebration - Danielle’s 40th birthday! Honestly, I’m so impressed at how well we did from day club SantAnna transitioning to house music at the famed night club Scorpios. We had a fantastic day fueled by rosé, a magnum bottle of Champagne and spritzes all night long. Who knew you could celebrate so much goodness in one week. And even my best friend from college showed up with my other travel buddy - both who visited me in Lebanon, plus another friend of theirs from LA. It truly felt like Mykonos was the place to be. We nailed it.

For anyone looking to celebrate a big occasion, honeymoon or enjoy the cool island vibes, happy to book your vacation. There are other incredible hotels and properties around the island such as Kalesma, depending on where you want to be based and travel style.

I was fortunate to stay at Mykonos Blanc with my friends for much of the week, and on the last night, I stayed at Once in Mykonos, which was a lovely way to end cap the week. It had a stunning, sweeping view of Ornos from atop the hill. The staff was incredible and would send any client there too.

It was a dream trip. It’s also incredibly easy to combine with Lebanon. More on that next!
