PR: Isn’t it ironic. Don’t you think?

Enjoy my PR rendition of Ironic. This is for my fellow PR pros and 90’s kids - Jagged Little Pill!

Happy National Publicist Day!

Here we go…

An old publicist turned thirty-eight

She won a new client and a pandemic the next day

It’s a global crisis on your launch day

It’s a NY Times hit, but your client was too late

And isn't it ironic?

Don't you think?

It’s a hurricane on your press trip day

It’s a free TV segment when you’ve already paid

It’s the good outlet that you just didn’t pitch

And who would've thought? It figures.

Ms.Travel PR was afraid to fly

She packed her laptop and kissed her career goodbye

She waited her whole damn life to get that client trip

And as the agency crashed down

She thought, well isn’t that PR?

And isn't it ironic?

Don't you think?

It’s like rain on your media event

It’s a free gig cause you’re never getting paid

It’s the client advice that you just cannot take

And who would've thought? It figures

Well, gift guides have a funny way of sneaking up on you

When you think everything's okay and everything's going right

And your client has a funny way of pointing it out

When you think everything's gone wrong

And the press conference blows up in your face

A client crisis when you’re already late

“No website link back” in your client's big break

It’s like ten thousand blogs when all you need is a national hit

It’s meeting the journalist of my dreams

And then your competitor is mentioned

And isn't it ironic?

Don't you think?

A little too ironic

And yeah, I really do think

It’s like a spelling error in your press release

It’s a free article when you’ve already paid

It’s the good outlet that you just didn’t pitch

And who would've thought? It figures

And PR has a funny way of kicking you while you’re down.

And PR has a funny, funny way of seeking you out

Chasing your deadline

PR ain’t helping you out.

What are some of your lines?!

Some inspiration from James Corden rendition back in 2015 about current day woes which is still hilarious. Thank you Alanis for being my 90s muse 🙏🏻
