Travel Abroad for Thanksgiving

Save a turkey, get on a flight! While everyone gathers for Thanksgiving, it’s the best time to get away internationally. If you don’t want to swap stories over a plate of turkey, arguing over politics or awkward family dynamics, pack your bags for the destination you’ve been wanting to visit with those extra days off.

Spend two weeks in Vietnam

Traveling to the diverse and long country, you want to give yourself some time to enjoy it from Saigon up to Ha Long Bay. Prices on flights to Asia in November are much more attainable with the extra days off work. Additionally, look at Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Japan.

Go on Safari!

Head over to East and Southern Africa for the ‘green season,’ which will make your budget go further and you can stay longer at some incredible camps in the Mara or South Africa’s Kruger National Park.

Go to Europe’s Christmas Markets

If you leave over Thanksgiving, you can catch the start of the Christmas Markets and displays across Europe before all the crowds. Check out fairytale towns in Alsace and across Germany. Join a river cruise if you want to visit a few destinations in a relaxing fashion.

Get a Tan

Head to Holbox, a small island off the coast of Eastern Mexico and enjoy its pristine beaches. It’s the type of place that feels far-flung with long-stretching, uncrowded coastline especially this time of year. I went on Thanksgiving in November 2021 and can attest to how chill it was. If you have time, drive down Quintan Roo to visit Bacalar and see the turquoise waters of its laguna.

Start thinking about next Thanksgiving next year and the places you can go! Give me a call if you want to create a dreamy itinerary.
