Open House: Trip Whisperer Agency

I love owning a piece of history. A home built in 1762 in Philadelphia — well suited for the Trip Whisperer HQ

Trip Whisperer Visual House Tour

After becoming an official homeowner in March 2021, the place is starting to feel like home, and I’ve been in full nesting mode to create a space that inspires creativity, feels calming, and has amazing natural light.

Back when we were all grappling with the Covid chaos, it was a time of reflection and change for me: the long-distance relationship ending, the shift in work, and everything else in between. Having spent my whole adult life renting and having roommates in NYC or partners, it was finally a chance to call something mine or better yet, home. Over the years, I’ve collected antiques, art, and travel keepsakes that transport me back to incredible memories. Pulled out of storage, the items are on display around this quaint historic home with all its nooks and built-ins fit for a collecting queen.

Collect memories, not things. I say, ‘why not both?’ When memories start to fade or I get too busy to be on the road, these ‘things’ are a quick trip down memory lane that reminds me why I work. I work to live, not live to work! Below is a visual tour with photos by Rhythm Productions.

Who doesn’t love to scope someone else’s digs? Remember SNL spoofing Zillow fantasies? Indulge that guilty pleasure.

Creating a Sense of Place

Adding a personal touch on the house and being able to put all my travel accoutrement on display has been a joy as well as comfort in finding a sense of place.

Home Office

For the last six years, the office was wherever my laptop was. After laying down roots, the Trip Whisperer agency has found its home. When the pandemic took hold, I was already work-from-home ready, and in the midst of it all, found this place of solace in a very unpredictable world. This summer I resolved to take the time to renovate the office and make it a space that was all my own, a space that would become the Trip Whisperer HQ, featured in The Philadelphia Inquirer.

I was able to work with local businesses like Colonial Wallcoverings in Queen Village to indulge in my need for decadent wallpaper. I had the walls painted, and hung artwork from my travels. Then I I hired photographer friend Vicky Mirzoeff, founder of Rhythm Productions to capture the final touches. Enjoy!
